Waxing!
Waxing is a very popular method of
semi-permanent hair removal. It removes the hair from the root
and new hair does not grow back for two to six weeks. Almost
any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, bikini
area, legs, arms, back, stomach and feet. There are many types of
waxing suitable for removing unwanted hair. If waxing is done
regularly for several years there can be a reduction in the amount
of hair that grows back.
Waxing is a great alternative to other
forms of hair removal. It is an effective and long lasting method.
Shaving or depilatory creams remove the hair at the surface rather
than the root. Within a few days, the hair can be seen at the
surface. With these methods, hair tends to grow back in a rough
stubble. Areas that are repeatedly waxed over long periods of time
often have a softer regrowth.
Waxing involves spreading a warm wax
thinly over the skin. Strip wax is then removed with a cloth
strip which is pressed onto the wax then quickly removed. This
removes the wax along with the hair. Strip wax is used in
larger areas and on more stubborn hair. Hot or hard wax is
applied a little thicker and is removed in one piece without cloth.
This waxing method is better for sensitive areas.
| Warning:
Hot or hard wax is a more expensive wax and is rarely
used on the legs or large areas. If a salon is
offering this method for these areas make sure you ask
if it is fresh, unused wax. Wax recycling is
unclean and unsafe. Fresh wax is used for every
client at Elements Beauty Spa. |
Cleanliness is important to us so to
protect our clients we use disposable spatulas and single use wax.
Out implements are disinfected and UV treated between clients.
Our team are all fully trained, experienced waxers who have spent
time perfecting and improving their technique.
 At
Elements Beauty Spa we use only the highest quality waxes. Our
salon has used the Mancine wax range for over eight years.
Cheaper waxes just don't grip the hair well and give unsatisfactory
results. We also use Mancine before and after wax care
including Mancine Tea Tree lotion which is wonderful at calming the
skin and reducing redness after waxing.
For post waxing home care we strongly
recommend the use of Thalgo Biodepyl Concentrate. It
encourages a slower hair regrowth and helps to reduce the thickness
or the hair making it ideal for facial hair particularly on the
chin. It contains an ingredient called Capislow plus essential
oils from Lemon, Lavender, Verbena and Camomile, and it’s the
combination of these that help to slow down hair re-growth. It
is also very soothing and helps prevent ingrown hairs.
